Simone Jardim, born in Santa Maria, Brazil, transitioned from a successful tennis career to pickleball in 2015. During her tenure as a professional pickleball player, she achieved an impressive record, winning the US Open women's singles four times consecutively (2016-2019) and two triple crown titles. Despite reducing her playing time in 2021, Jardim continues to dominate, securing the No. 1 rank in women's doubles and mixed doubles in the Pro Pickleball Association. Off the court, she co-founded the Peak Performance Pickleball Academy in Florida.
Starting pickleball in 2020 as a family activity, Jorja Johnson swiftly rose to the top, dominating the APP Tour rankings by 2022. Jorja made her mark by collecting four singles titles and 42 medals in total during her breakout year. Recipient of the SHEFIT Rising Star Award in 2022, she's now set to conquer the PPA Tour in 2023 alongside her brother JW in mixed doubles and as part of the Florida Smash team in MLP events. Jorja is undeniably a rising force in pickleball.
Born in Saudi Arabia, Milan Rane journeyed to a boarding school in Rome, GA, before attending Florida Atlantic University. Her sports background includes playing tennis until high school, but her path took a turn when she was introduced to pickleball in 2020. One of her proudest moments is winning the World Pickleball Open alongside Jorja Johnson. Outside of the pickleball court, Milan, a certified fitness instructor for three years, currently works as a paid search specialist for Overstock. Her recent accomplishments include securing a bronze medal at the 2023 APP Mesa Open, proving her skill and commitment to the sport.
Parris Todd is a dynamic pro who rapidly rose to prominence in pickleball. Starting her tennis journey at five, she trained at Florida's renowned Bollettieri Tennis Academy and soon ranked #1 nationally among juniors aged 14-16. Simultaneously, she launched her clothing line, Waisted USA, which was featured in Macy's within three months. Transitioning to pickleball in late 2021, Parris entered her first pro tournament in January 2022. By the end of that year, she had over 20 medals and victories against top players like Anna Leigh Waters, marking her as a formidable force in the sport.
Andrei Daescu, a formidable force in pickleball, marked an outstanding 2023 by clinching the US Open Men's Doubles title and winning 10 gold medals on the APP tour—seven in men's doubles and three in mixed doubles. A valuable asset to the Milwaukee Mashers in Major League Pickleball's premier division, Andrei awaits new challenges post the July 12 draft. His journey in the sport continues to be an exciting one.
Born in Taos, New Mexico, Hunter made the tough decision to quit baseball and focus on his true passion, tennis, alongside his twin brother, Yates. This dedication earned him a scholarship at The University of Louisiana at Lafayette, later transferring to SMU in Dallas, TX, where he and Yates became the most successful doubles team in the school's history. After graduating in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Physiology and Sports Management, Hunter ventured into the Tennis Pro Tour, winning 14 professional titles. In 2021, despite reaching his career-high ATP tennis ranking, he made the brave transition to professional pickleball. Now, he ranks as the world's third-best pickleball singles player, with 29 medals to his name and an unwavering resolve to climb to the top.
JW Johnson, a one-time tennis hopeful turned pickleball prodigy, made waves in his debut year, 2021, by capturing four singles titles, including an astonishing victory over Ben Johns. His exceptional consistency across formats in 2022 earned him the #1 spot in the APP combined rankings and an astounding 36 titles. Chosen as the top male player in the 2022 MLP Draft, Johnson continues his strong performances into 2023, now a stalwart competitor on the PPA Tour and MLP team competitions. His promising future sees him partnering with his sister, Jorja, and Dylan Frazier in doubles matches.
Rob Nunnery, a seasoned pro with over 30 professional medals and a member of the inaugural Major League Pickleball championship team, has been shaping the pickleball world since 2020. A gifted storyteller, Rob shares his journey to the pro ranks through various mediums. He co-hosts the top-ranked "It Feels Right Podcast" and also runs the video series "Destination Pickle." Before pickleball, Rob excelled in Division 1 tennis at UNC-Asheville, where he also studied Broadcast Journalism. Outside the court, his passions lie in travel, business, and nature.
